Since childhood I heard not to try to hold a butterfly. Apparently there is
powder on their wings which can be rubbed off and then it is difficult for them
to fly. I don't know if this is true. I only know it is what I learned. But,
what I also know is that if you sit very still by a creek or a river on a warm
day, especially if you and the stones around you are a little bit wet, the
butterflies will come and sit with you; sometimes they even land on you and
stay for a long time. You can look at them, and sometimes you get the feeling
that they are also looking at you, but most of the time they are just there
with you being by the river.
I am grateful that several times the recent postings have brought the memory of
that experience back to me, even as I'm surrounded by snow.
Thank you to all of the teachers who have been sharing in this global learning
circle.
