Hello, Constellation friends:
Coming near the light at the end of the tunnel in co-writing the book about
psychodrama and constellation work and finding that I am missing a reference
for this story about Hellinger. Does anyone know the book in which this
story appeared? I would be so grateful to have it. Here is the story:
A man came to him in one of these courses, and asked him to set up a
constellation for his family. He happened to be Jewish. After he set up
his Jewish family, Hellinger
"responded by setting up seven representatives of Holocaust victims, and
behind them, seven representatives for dead perpetrators. I asked the seven
victims' representatives to turn around and look into the eyes of the seven
perpetrators. After that, I did nothing more. I left their responses and
their movements entirely up to them as they developed. Some of the
perpetrators collapsed, writing on the floor and sobbing loudly in pain and
shame..The victims helped those on the floor to get up, held them in their
arms, and comforted them. Finally, an incredible love emerged between them.
One of the perpetrators was completely rigid and could not move in any way.
I put in another person to represent a perpetrator behind the perpetrator.
The first representative leaned back against this new representative and was
able to relax somewhat. The man later said that he had felt like a finger
on a giant hand, totally at its mercy. This was also reported by others in
this constellation. All of them, victims as well as perpetrators, felt
directed but also carried by some greater force, a force whose effects were
not clear. Each of the representatives was asked to write a report about
what they went through
Hellinger stated a few things that became clear to him after doing this
constellation and studying what the representatives wrote afterwards.
1) There are no groups of victims and another for perpetrators. That
is, there are only individual victims and individual perpetrators. Every
individual perpetrator must face the individual victims, and individual
victim must face the individual perpetrators.
2) There is no peace for the dead victims until the dead perpetrators
have taken their place next to them-until the dead perpetrators have been
taken into the souls of their victims. And there is no peace for the
perpetrators until they have lain next to victims as equals.
