I greatly appreciate your words here, Bertold. Like many constellation people,
I am also trained in Somatic Experiencing. In my practice, I employ, among
other things, my years of experience and training in SE. And, for these last
ten years I have been facilitating constellations. I use my background as a
trauma practitioner in the knowing field of the constellation work with my
trauma clients. It is remarkably helpful. And, as you point to – the “therapist
and group members can be such a healing force.” I could say so much more here
about that – but I am mainly responding to affirm what you begin to touch-into
about what I translate as using/not-using the constellation as a technique
following the perceived safety or prescription of the facilitator – and how
this kind of intervention and default towards technique can actually thwart the
resolution wanting to come forth. When we are able as facilitators (and as
trauma practitioners) “to allow the moments of helplessness and not knowing” we
are much closer to that which most supports our clients (and the field itself)
towards greater somatic and psychic regulation and towards integrated trauma
resolution.
