Hello All –
For me, the beneficial outcome of the session with mother and daughter is one
consideration. What matters more is whether a violent blow to the head of a
mentally ill woman is acceptable in a therapeutic setting and whether as
Constellation facilitators we endorse a trainer who freely uses violence
against clients.
Violence, especially violence to the head and brains of women diagnosed with
madness or insanity has a long, brutal history in European and American
medical treatment. The insane asylums of Europe were literally torture
chambers where captives were chained, beaten and bled. For centuries in
Catholic Europe, women who practiced pre-Christian spiritual traditions or
knew the wisdom of plant medicine were branded crazy or called witches and
burnt at the stake or drowned.
Tens of thousands of indigenous European women were slain under the auspices
of the Roman Church under the banner, “Violation/Infringement of the
Hierarchy Leads to Death.” The Eugenics movement, which was grounded in the
philosophy of social Darwinism, was birthed by medical professionals working
in hospitals for the insane. Eugenics promoted long-term incarceration and
sterilization of the mentally ill. It found its peak expression in Nazi
Germany where an estimated 275,000 mentally and physically disabled were
murdered. Thousands more were used as forced subjects in tortuous research
experiments. The Soviet Union employed brain destroying psychiatric
treatments against political dissidents in Gulag psychiatric hospitals. The
brains of the mentally ill have been wounded and destroyed in successive
generations of “best treatments” since the inception of modern psychiatry.
After physical beatings ceased, new treatments included insulin shock
therapy, electric shock, lobotomy, neuroleptics (also known as chemical
lobotomy) and the latest versions of atypical antipsychotics treated patients
by damaging their brains.
In 2004, the German Association of Systemic Constellations (DGfS) made a
formal statement distancing its membership from the Hellingers. In 2008, the
Board of Directors of ISCA (the International Systemic Constellations
Association) publicly separated from Bert Hellinger in an open letter. In
2009, the Statement of Jewish Constellation Facilitators documented Sophie
Hellinger’s use of the Nazi salute in front of a forum organized by a Jewish
Constellator. The statement said, “With this action, we believe a boundary
was crossed that should never be crossed.”
“Sophie – is in contact with the Great Power. Cosmic power. And we cannot
judge this work from old knowledge or ordinary ideas. In contact with Cosmic
power it becomes clear. Constellation is a surgical operation on the soul.
Operation is an operation. Such as it is. And the scalpel cannot be asked to
be ‘softer.’”
Most English readers may not recognize how this quote corresponds to the
spiritual beliefs documented in Robert J. Lifton’s “Nazi Doctors.” The
excision of Jews, homosexuals, the mentally ill and others from the body of
the German fatherland was justified as a surgical operation in the cosmic
struggle for Aryan health. Nazi genocidal projects frequently referenced
cosmic spiritual laws to establish their psychological justifications.
According to Albert Speer, the Fuhrer himself transcended the ordinary
boundaries of human awareness and instead spoke the will of a great power,
the cosmic law. Lifton describes Speer’s response to hearing Hitler speak in
1930: “Now Hitler appeared with the simple message that all could be changed.
Germany could be great again….Speer was moved to the point of rapture. In an
altered state of consciousness, he was in an ecstatic state of feeling
outside oneself and swept up by a larger force that could connect with cosmic
spiritual principles.”
I write this from within my conscience as a Jewish American. Violence against
the mentally ill and evoking Nazi spiritual philosophy violates this
conscience. Each one us can watch that video and read the context and respond
in accordance to our own conscience.

Subject: Re: [ConstellationTalk] context of the Russian workshop
Hello Elena,
I just received the text, in Russian and English:
VIOLATION/INFRINGEMENT OF THE HIERARCHY LEADS TO DEATH.
SOPHIE HELLINGER
Seminar of Bert and Sophie Hellinger in Moscow.
The first wife of my husband and their daughter did not leave the house
for a year.
Afflicted by witchcraft (Bert Hellinger calls it "bad thoughts"), there
was also the influence of special services (surveillance, audition). And
two healthy, wonderful women, mother and daughter stopped leaving the
house. And six months before the seminar, they refused to eat and
brought themselves to dystrophy…
I was at a seminar and I felt that Bert can help.
This was Sophie's first visit to Russia, and I did not know how she works.
I already knew Bert's work.
And I asked: "Bert, can I bring mother and daughter to the seminar, who
is diagnosed with schizophrenia?" Bert felt deep inside him and said:
"Yes, you can bring them to the seminar."
My husband did not believe that constellation could help, and that his
wife and daughter would agree to leave the house. They did not accept
the help of doctors, refused to talk to them, and did not want to leave
the house more than 1 year.
And I asked him: "Let's try! We'll just arrive in the morning and take
them to the seminar. And if they do not agree, we will not take them ... "
And my husband agreed.
Since mother and Daughter were categorically against doctors,
psychologists, psychotherapists (traumas of being in the hospital), we
just said, that a philosopher from Germany can try to help.
It's a miracle, that when we arrived, mother and daughter were already
dressed and ready to go. They did not ask a single question. It was like
some greater power behind it.
And the constellation was conducted by Sophie Hellinger.
My husband was born in the GULAG, a family of exiled Moldovans. And his
first wife from the family of the head of the Magadan camps. In one
family, prisoners and guards joined.
In constellation, my husband was sitting with his father (grandfather's
daughter), who survived the GULAG, in the circles of countless dead.
There were so many of them, dead in the GULAG and belonging to the
field, that all of us, participants, gave our shoes - the
represesentatives of the dead.
Mother was drawn to the dead.
Daughter held mother's hand.
In constellation, Sophie slowly, very slowly brought mother and
daughter out of the field of the dead to the field of life. And she led
them to a representative of life.
Then, she requested daughter to say to her mother : «You are big. Here,
you are big».
Mother smiled for the first time. But the daughter could not say this.
And started to talk, to talk ...
Then Sophie knocked her by microphone on her forehead.
But it did not help either.
Violation of the hierarchy.
Love that leads to death.
And mother could not say to her daughter: «You are small here».
Constellation showed real dynamic. Very clear.
Even that in the beginning it looked like daughter wanted to help to mother…
After the seminar, both mother and daughter began to leave the house.
Socially adapted.
Every six months they are in a psychiatric hospital. This helps a little.
Mother and daughter are alive.
"Hard" work of Sophie Hellinger, caused later a great discussion.
Is it possible to work this way?
When it comes to life and death, you can work only like this.
I watched Sophie's same great work at another, a children's seminar in
Bad Reichenhall.
Sophie said to mother: "You are killing your child!" And the
constellation showed it. Murder from deep love.
And my friend, a children's therapist, left the seminar room with her
son, and later told me that "Sophie is working hard. So it is impossible! "
I answered:" Tomorrow the child will die. It is only one chance now to
stop the mother to kill her child".
Sophie – is in contact with the Great Power. Cosmic power. And we can
not judge this work from old knowledge or ordinary ideas. In contact
with Cosmic power it becomes clear. Constellation is a surgical
operation on the soul.
Operation is an operation. Such as it is. And the scalpel can not be
asked to be "softer".
It can cost someone a life.

СCosmic
power.

Yes, it was breaking the general ethics and rules, but somewhere deep in

Could you connect me and your Russian friend, please? The recording of

important for the professional community to know the result of the

Hello Everyone,
just when I finished the anterior mail , I received a call by my
Russian
friend. She will write the complete history of this family and the
constellation and I will send it to you.
Here only a short summery:
The clients were the former wife and the daughter of my friend's
ex-husband. Both, mother and daughter, were mentally ill,so my friend
asked Bert if he could work with them. Both had not left the house for
one year.
Next day, there was a big constellation . Some time after the
constellation, there was the intervention we see in the film. After
this
day, mother and daughter began to be better. This work has had a very
good effect.
The rest and details in some days. The public were Russian therapists.
Best wishes
Maria
PS.
This former husband of my friend had sent this text to the Bert
Hellinger 85th Birthday Commemorative:
Verity and Justice
Bert Hellinger is Verity and Justice. Being a Christian he developed an
understanding of the Truth – acceptance of everything happening in
life
with Gratitude to the Creator.
He doesn’t criticise as nobody else. He never judges. All the more he
doesn’t try to make requital. He sees life as the greatest creation of
God and accepts it with Gratitude.
He explains events in the Present believing that their place is in the
Past. Present is evinced Past, the result of actions that did or did
not
take place in the Past.
Bert’s genius constellations prove two truths – God is and energy of
the
past lives never disappears, it is “written” in information field of
the Earth, can be read and forms the Future.
Bert Hellinger is not an idiologist and religious mystic. He faces the
Truth and is not weary to say aloud what he sees and understands. He
doesn’t have stereotypes about life. He is objective and honest with
himself. He is one of the discoverers who can see and understand things
as they are not as he wants to or it seems to him.
Bert Hellinger reads the Past as if he doesn’t have the past, the
experience that would tell him how things should or must be. He is like
a child looking at the world with astonishment and gratitude and he is
not horrified, not scared, he doesn’t moralize. Purity and Love is his
starting point of perception of life and dialogue with the world.
He is a great Thinker. He thinks as God would think. It is no mere
chance that one of his books is called “With God in Mind”. He is one of
a few people in the world who love this world with endless joy, the
world that was created by God and where there is God.
We have interest to his books because first of all there is a dialogue
with God and love to God in them. He realized long ago that pain and
misery is nothing but way to cleanup and enlightenment and that God is
just and endlessly merciful. All happening on the Earth is being born
from Truth and Love. Babies are born in blood and pain and we realise
that it is the most beautiful moment in life and Bert appreciates this
beauty of creation. And he brings us the light of this great Truth. The
light of Gratitude.
And as I am reading in this book now, I add another text:
Peter A. Levine, Boulder, CO, USA
Hellinger tribute
At this time of his 85th birthday, I reflect back on meeting this
remarkable man. I first met Bert Hellinger when he invited me to
present
at his conference in Wurzburg, Germany. At that time we had a brief
encounter. We discovered that we had a number of students who were
studying with both of us. He had wanted to learn more about my approach
and what I was teaching. So some time later, he sent word that he
wanted
to observe one of my trainings. Bert arrived for my advanced level
Somatic Experiencing trauma training in Switzerland. I wondered what he
could possibly comprehend without the background of the previous
courses. However, during that time I had the uncanny experience of him
observing me teaching. It became clear that he was taking in much more
than the content of what I was presenting; he was observing its
essence,
and seeing into my soul. I was deeply touched by this. And when I did a
demonstration, he seemed to be tracking it at a profoundly deep level.
During the time of the class in Weggis, we shared many of our meals.
During those memorable encounters, I got to experience both the
pioneering brilliance of this extraordinary man as well as his
compelling quality of innocent curiosity. I was of course honored that
he had the interest in what I was doing and so grateful to learn from
his profound simplicity. What became clear was the vast wisdom of this
man and our varied but shared conception that deep healing does not
come
from the retelling and rehashing of an individual’s “story” but from
universal archetypes operating through the ether of ancestral memory.
Most compelling about meeting Bert was his passion and tenacity to
go to
the root of a solution, to take the journey of the soul. The I Ching
(the Chinese book of changes) says:
“We must go down to the very foundations of life. For any merely
superficial ordering of life that leaves its deepest needs unsatisfied
is as ineffectual as if no attempt at order had ever been made.”
Bert Hellinger’s commitment to this principle is unwavering. He is a
seeker of truth and of the journey of the soul as it lives through us.
Thank you Bert.

Potsdam Declaration on Systemic Constellation Work (revised)
The work with role-playing and constellations has a long
Sculpture workfamily and systemic therapy. Such work is rooted primarily in
therapeutic techniques as they were developed in Family
promiseor in Psychodrama. In the form practiced by Bert Hellinger, it has
achieved a wider public recognition that it never had before.
Regrettably, Hellinger has increasingly distanced himself from his
original systemic work. But he is still to be given credit for his
contributions in strengthening constellation work.
Above all, he has developed new and innovative procedures that
followersto resolve the dynamics of entanglements.
However, today we have reached the point where, not only essential
parts of the practice of Bert Hellinger --- and many of his
regarded---, but also many of his statements and procedures are to be
(e.g.,explicitly as incompatible with the fundamental premises of systemic
therapy, namely:
* Neglecting to clarify statements and their related directives
* The application of mystifying and "self-immunizing" descriptions
("something greater", "taken into service of . . ." etc.)
* The unqualified use of generalized formulations and dogmatic
interpretations ("always when", "bad effect", "punished with death",
"the only way", "forfeit the right," etc.).
* Employing potentially humiliating interventions and submission
rituals ?
* The allegedly compelling linkage of these interventions with
specific models of human types and their associated world views
framework of aregarding gender issues, parenthood, dual nationalities, etc.)
* The idea that one person can reach a truth that is denied to the
other person. This leads to the use of absolutist terminology and
implies that, in a partnership, it is pointless to strive for
cooperation in the relationship.
By contrast, we validate many examples and permutations of
constellation work, all being done in the context of a systemic-
constructivist understanding of therapy, and within the
furthercompetent and responsible therapeutic relationship.
We understand these points as constructive attempts to develop
of thisthis already proven therapeutic technique and also to submit it to
more and more scientific testing.
To that extent we also resist any vague or imprecise criticism
further as akind of practice.
Constellation work "beyond Hellinger" should be developed
is nottherapeutic instrument, but the close connection with his name
to be maintained any longer today. /
