Hi Cristina,
I would look at what the source of the distress is in the client's
need.
Who or what is struggling here - is it the child, the mother, the
father, the marital relationship, the family system, something else....
Is the situation weakening for anyone? What needs to change so that
everyone is strengthened? Who benefits from the way things are? What
will happen if they lose this benefit?
Who, or what can supply the resources that allow healing? Is the
issue around this particular instance of abandonment and fragility or
is it part of a family pattern of being faced with traumatic
experiences for which there is no family strategy of resiliance and
healing?
Regards,
Gail.
