Inquiries about our Summer Braille Music Institute have been coming in at a
steady stream with virtually no advertising on our part. As the deadline
for requesting applications approaches, we at the National Resource Center
for Blind Musicians want to be sure, that everyone who might be looking for
the type of study opportunity we provide is aware of it. The Summer Braille

Music Institute will be held at the Overbrook School for the Blind in
Philadelphia July 16-22. It is geared to students in their last years of
high school or early years of college, who have a need and strong motivation

to develop their use of braille music and technology, especially for use in
music theory courses. The program is not a music performing camp and
participants are expected to have good independence skills. Space is
available for six students. The application takes some time to complete,
and the deadline is May 10. Information and additional requirements are at
www.blindmusicstudent.org/summer_institute.htm

The April 15 deadline given on the site for requesting applications will be
extended to April 24 if people tell us the name of the listserv they read it

on. Questions about the Institute and resources may be addressed to David
Goldstein at info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or by calling (203) 366-3300,
extension 229.
