Actually, I'd be happy to sample my own material, but I would want it to
have some drum kits, or the ability to load drum kits from some other
source. I'm kind of looking for a portable idea scratch pad, so it would
have to be mobile and not need me to connect up a controller.

Akai is the best sampler but it has no sounds in it!
according to what you are looking for you need a rack such as Fantom XR that
has 1152 sounds in it, including drum sets, and read sample sounds as well.
