Hello all
So I have been recording a project lately and have inserted different time
signatures for interesting effects. For instance, bar 10 i inserted 2 beats
instead of the usual 4. I went into the insert time dialogue and put in 1920
ticks for 2 beats. I changed the time signature of that bar to 2/4 , then i
moved to bar 11 and changed the time signature back to 4 4 for the rest of the
project. All fine so far. I turned on the playback metronome to make sure
everything was on time and the first time I played it from bar 10 it played
back the way it was suppose to, 2/4 at bar 10 and 4 4 at bar 11.
upon rewinding the project to the beginning however, and playing it as far as
bar 19 which is the end of the project so far, I noticed that the 2/4 time
signature which was suppose to be at bar 10 moved forward 2 bars, so that bar
12 was playing 2 beats in the metronome instead of 4 beats. I couldn’t figure
out why this was happening. I went into the key view and the time signatures
were all correct. The same problem happened when i did not use the step record
feature and manually entered in notes with the keyboard. The playback metronome
was playing 2 beats at bar 12 instead of bar 10. And bar 10 was playing 4 beats
instead of 2 beats. It’s a bit hard to explain but I hope you can follow me so
far. The only workaround to this problem i have been able to think of is
turning off the count in metronome when I am recording notes using the midi
keyboard and leaving on the metronome for playback. That seems to have solved
this problem, at least temporarily, or I am perhaps doing something wrong. Has
anyone else come across this before?
I am not sure if this is the way the metronome is suppose to work in sonar.
All the best,
Josh
