Hi Mark,

I guess that Sonar as got most of software tools to master a song or a album, i mean, from the begin to end!
I only wish I knew how to use them all! And have the time for it! smile.
Although, someone that makes mastering for living, got extra tools for sure!

About mastering, the trick is that the song it's suppose to sound very good in most of every speakers. Of course, depends of the genre, and taste, that all depends also of the client order right? Per example, lets say, that you refer that your song it's to be played most in radios, remenber that radios use a lot of compressor! Have you ever heard a song in radio that it sounds to much compressed? So, we need to watch out for all aspects! The mastering professional it's payed to make all of that work nice.

About the song, the stereo thingthat appears sometimes, at least in my PC speakers plus my studio speakers, sounded very present. The bass could have more presence in some lowers freq, and the guitar? well, I am a guitar player, so dont like synthitized guitars, hope you understand! though, in my opinian it's very loud, comparing to the vocals that needed to be more in front i guess. But, one thing about mastering, it's that i find that if you give that song to diferent mastering professionals, all of them will gonna make diferent choices, but will gonna sound nice almost everywhere!

In my opinian, I suppose that it's very dificult to be neutral of my own compositions!

And, if it's for professional business, I will gonna need to pay the time and the experience of a mastering professional.

But, I know that it's one of those aspects of music production that any one of us could be very good, even in professional works, if we put our energie and focus to learn, and develop knoledge.
We have some listed friends that are un example of that.

kind regards,
