Well, it depends on how far back you are going. You can load a sonar 7 file into sonar 6, and you can load a sonar 6 file into sonar 5. I think there were significant changes in the file format from sonar 4 to sonar 5. I tried with a cwb file with only pure audio tracks without any effects and a drumtrack where cakewalk tts1 was used, wich should be the same synth in sonar 4 as far as I know. When I try to load it in sonar 4, some error message comes up telling that things can sound different because the file is saved in a newer version and there's an ok button.
