I use adobi audition to do most of the editing.
I use the wav View for that, pretty sweet.

It can. It depends if the breath noises are fairly quiet, or in some
cases, if they are rasping gasps that are quite loud. Anyway, that was
just an example. I also like to edit out guitar squeaks and other things.
