Hi there.

The peak level shows you the latest peak encountered, as your file is playing. If a newer high peak is not found, it continues to show the previous high peak value. Pressing F2 twice resets the peak meters, so you can do this periodically to get readings of the portion of the song you are hearing at that instant.

The Sonitus compressor is completely accessible to us. You can adjust every single parameter your sighted friends can. Don't worry about other compressor plug-ins. Just learn to adjust things in the Sonitus compressor. You need to learn how adjusting each control changes the sound. What does threshold do, how does a higher ratio setting sound different than a lower one, how do fast attack and release settings sound different than slower ones, etc. Experiment. Check out the various presets that are already there, to see what's going on in them.
