Hi,

Going back multiple versions, we have always included documents in
CakeTalking's setup folder called 1Settings... followed by the name of the
related version of Windows such as 1SettingsXP. If you use CakeTalking and
you have never reviewed the 1Settings document for your version of Windows,
I urge you to do so right away. See Start Menu | Programs | CakeTalking ...
| Setup for a shortcut to the document. BTW, we have not yet included a
1SettingsWindows7 document yet but you can pretty much use the
1SettingsVista document as a guide. Basically, disable User Account Control
(UAC) and set your display theme to Classic.

Beginning with CakeTalking 8.3 we began to include an additional document in
CT's Setup folder that includes specific settings for SONAR's toolbars and
KeyBindings. At the top of this Settings for SONAR document, it says:

"This document lists the major settings and files that CakeTalking 8.5
requires for SONAR 8.5. These settings are automatically created when you
install Cake Talking..."

We decided to include this detail because we have found that, starting with
SONAR 8, SONAR's installation program did not always consistently install
the expected settings for toolbars. Also, we find that some users will
change a required toolbar setting, usually without even realizing it, and
then find that certain functions don't work as expected. Often, just going
through the checklist of required toolbar settings and restoring them to the
optimal settings will correct the problem.

Here's the section that refers to proper toolbar settings for CakeTalking:

THE GLOBAL OPTIONS DIALOG.

The Global Options dialog is a 9 page dialog, that contains many checkboxes
for making settings. CakeTalking makes 6 different setting in 2 pages of the
Global Options dialog. To check out the Global Options, do the following:

1. Press ALT+O, then G, to open the Global options dialog.

2. You should hear JAWS say " Global options dialog. General Page. Show tool
tips not checked."

If it does not say General Page, then CONTROL+TAB till you hear JAWS say
"General".

3. DOWN ARROW through the check boxes as you compare what JAWS reports to
the required CakeTalking settings in the list below.

4. If they don't match, then arrow to the item that does not match and press
the SPACE BAR.

5. Press ESCAPE if no changes were necessary, or ENTER if changes were made.
