By now I hope many of you have already received notice of this Louis Braille
Touch of Genius Prize for Innovation from National Braille Press and the
Givney Family Foundation. I regret that I was unable to pass on this
information any sooner. The deadline is Wednesday, August 15, 2007, so time
is now short.
Please review and forward the following information as appropriate.

Did you know that Louis Braille invented not only a code for text and
arithmetic but also the braille music code used by blind musicians all over
the world even today?

Did you know that Braille himself was considered for such a prize as this
one in his own lifetime but despite the efforts of his many supporters he
never did receive the recognition he so richly deserved? This Touch of
Genius Prize is a fitting tribute to Braille's lasting memory and to his
true genius.

Regards from Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, USA,

Louis Braille Touch of Genius Prize for Innovation

National Braille Press is pleased to announce the Louis Braille Touch of
Genius Prize for Innovation is now open for applications. The Gibney Family
Foundation initiated the Touch of Genius prize as a tie-in to NBP's recently
published biography of Louis Braille to stimulate new thinking in the area
of tactile literacy.

The Louis Braille Touch of Genius Prize for Innovation will be granted to an
individual or group of individuals who advances the cause of tactile
literacy for blind and deafblind people worldwide. Louis Braille was an
innovator—and this $20,000 award seeks to identify a similar pacesetter and
inspire future innovators.
