Hi,

I do this very thing with a Focusrite Octo Pre LE connected to the ADAT in of
my Saffire Pro 40.

Works fine on a single firewire card at 44.1kHz at 24 bits. Latency is going
to be down to your host machine, but I've experienced no issues.

Best wishes.

Subject: [ddots-l] Focusrite safire pro 40 expansion question

Hi all i want to find out if i get a safire pro40 and i get another 8 pre amps
like the focusrite isa 824 and connect it with ADAT. Will the pro 40 allow me
to record the 16 tracks at the same time? This might sound like a stupid
question but some units with the same configuration as the pro 40 allows you to
connect 8 extra pre amps via ADAT, but it doesn't allow you to record the 16
channels at the same time. One more thing will the single firewire port handle
the 16 channels plus the outputs and what about latency?
