The audio can be obtained from the project's audio folder.
However, most likely what's causing sonar to stall is a plug-in that you
have inserted in that project. Or perhaps configuration data has gone bad
(did you have a power loss? Are your hard drives working properly?).
In any case, the easiest way to try and recover the data is by opening the
project in safe mode. To do this:
1. open sonar and close any default template project.
2. Go to file>Open, or press ctrl+O.
3. Use the list view of files/folders to navigate to the cwp file of the
project in question.
4. Now, hold down the shift key as you press enter on the cwp file. Sonar
will begin to open the project in safe mode.
In this mode, sonar will ask you if you want to load each instance of any
plug-ins you may have assigned. You should answer no to all if you just want
to open the project with no plug-ins/effects; you just want the data to copy
it over to a new project for example.
However, if you want to see which plug-in is causing issues, answer yess 1
by 1, until you see sonar freeze and stop responding. Whatever the last
plug-in was or whatever track the plug-in went to is the one causing issues.
Reopen in safe mode, but this time, answer no to that particular plug-in and
continue saying yes to the rest, to be sure that there are no others.
If you successfully open the project, don't resave it, as sonar will remove
the data that you excluded in the safe mode open dialog. The best way to
approach this is to do a save as. Of course you could always reinsert the
plug-ins from scratch and go from there if you'd like...

Hi all,
I am having a problem opening one of my projects. I was hoping to add some
more tracks to it, but now since it will not open, I'm wondering how I can
retrieve the audio and the midi data.
Now whenever I try to open the project, Jaws says Sonar not responding.
Close the program or wait for it to respond. Of course, if I waited, I would
be waiting forever.
I really need the data from this project, so I'm definitely open to any
suggestions anyone may have.
