Hello:
If you are using your jotif as a control surface in remote mode you wouldn't be able to use it as a controller midi keyboard. I haven't used usb in a long time, I have the MLan interface and that really is the way to go if you can afford it.

Subject: [ddots-l] Issue with Motif XS and Sonar through USB

So I'm sure I'm missing something very simple, but I'm having no luck figuring it out.

Here's the situation.
Windows 7 64 bit, Sonar 8.5.3 with latest CT scripts.
I downloaded and installed the generic MIDI to USB driver for 64 bit windows.
I've got a Motif XS 6 connected to the DAW through USB.
I've set the Motif in and out to USB and also made sure that the remote setting was set to Sonar.

In the track view, I made sure to set the MIDI in port of all my soft synths to omni. The Motif shows up in Sonar's list of MIDI devices and I went ahead and checked all of the ports. I also went ahead and activated the Motif as a control surface through Mackie Control. I also have a regular Yamaha keyboard plugged into my audio interface through a MIDI cable.

When I select a soft synth, I'm able to play the sounds with the Yamaha connected via the generic MIDI cable, but I get nothing from the Motif. If anyone has had any luck with this, I'd love to hear from you.
