Thanks Brian. I believe some of us like me just wanted to hear from a developer how possible it was to use Cake Talking with Jaws 12 before we upgraded.

I don't think that any of the advanced CT users here will have a problem with using Jaws 12 with CT. I've been using it just fine. Like Bill says, though, the testing hasn't been extensive. Before releasing CT 8.5, it was tried with all of the supported resolutions, on all of the supported OSes, and with the various supported versions of Jaws. I've been using CT 8.5 with Jaws 12 with Windows 7 64-bit on my Mac Pro at 1280X768, and it has worked fine. Maybe another screen resolution wouldn't work so well? Maybe using Jaws 12 with CT 8.5 on XP will experience problems? There is no harm in trying, as long as you feel comfortable downgrading if you hit a snag. If people want to be sure of the best operation without a concern that something might go wrong, we still suggest Jaws 11, as it has been extensively tested with CT 8.5.

Freedom Scientific often makes small changes to how Jaws processes scripts from one version of Jaws to another. We often don't hear about these changes, and so we usually discover them when some part of a script that used to work starts failing. CakeTalking is full of parts that must behave differently based on the particular version of Jaws that is being used. Beyond a certain point, managing all of these special cases becomes too much to track, and that is why CakeTalking usually supports only a few Jaws versions prior to the current release of Jaws.

Hi,

We release CakeTalking for SONAR 8.5 before release of JAWS 12. We do not officially support using CakeTalking 8.5 with JAWS 12. However, many customers are using CT 8.5 with JAWS 12 without any problems.

Should you have a problem though, please install JAWS 11 and, reinstall CakeTalking and try the same operation. If you still have a problem, write to support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or call +1 610 783-6692 and select Option 3 and then Option 2.

Regards,
Bill
