Hey Martin!

The only way you're gonna access the X3 is using a combination of the Line 6 "Gear Box" software, JAWS cursor, the PC cursor routed to JAWS and a little physical tweaking of the unit itself...

Here's how I do it, nind you, I'm still using the XT Pro, but essentially its the same:

Navigating Gear Box:

Once you've opened it, switch over to the JAWS cursor.
Hit ctrl+home, to get to the top of the window.
Now press, ctrl left cursor, 'til you start hitting graphics.
Invariably, most of the graphics represent a ctrl knob/button, like, for
instance, modulation on/off, or simply a treble or mid frequency control.

When over a graphic, press insert+page down, and this'll give you a
description of just what the graphic represents.
Alternatively, you could switch JAWS to "say all", but if you do this, JAWS
will drive you crazy, speaking continuously 'til you feel obligated to trash
your system!
When you've sussed out what the graphic in question pertains too, its a good
idea to label it with the JAWS graphics labeler.
Now, you can either toggle its state with the JAWS left mouse key, or adjust
its value.
You do this by routing the JAWS cursor to PC, then alter the value by
pressing the left/right cursor for large amounts, or the up/down cursor for
single percentages.

However, sometimes when the graphic pertains to an on/off switch, pressing
the JAWS left mouse button doesn't always toggle its state!
I've found that using a real mouse, with the JAWS cursor routed to PC, can
do the trick.

Alternatively, you could install Guitar Port instead of Gear Box, because,
with Guitar Port, all the on/off buttons, work with the JAWS left mouse key
100% of the time...

Importantly, if, you alter the value of a ctrl, like, for instance, the
compressor threshold or the modulation depth, its name will change back to a
graphic with a different #, so its a good idea to rename this graphic
again...

Sometimes, you will wonder where the controls are for a certain effect,
like, for instance the delay or reverb.
In order to display these parameters, simply click the corresponding
button/graphic using the JAWS left mouse key a few times.
Obviously, this'll display a new bunch of graphics, so you'll have to go
thru the tedious process of sussing them out, and graphics labeling them.

If, you don't know about the JAWS graphics labeler, here's how to utilize
it:

When sitting over the graphic in question, press insert+'G'.
You can now type in a name for said ctrl.
Remember, try to keep it as short as possible, because, in
gearbox/GuitarPort, if an on/off button/ctrl has a name that's too long,
there won't be enough room for the next graphic to be labeled, or worse, it
will render the next graphic hidden!

Hello all, has anybody got any experience of accessing the Line 6 pod rack
units using Jaws screen reading software? Thinking of an X3 pro but want to
know I will be able to access at least some of the features and be able to
select patches easilly. Thanks for any guidance. Martin
