As I understand your situation, you have a midi adapter connected to
your computer which will allow to in midi connections and two out
connections.

If this isn't true, stop reading here.

Connect midi out of device one to the midi in 1 of the adapter.
Connect midi in of device 1 to midi out 1 on the adapter.

Now connect midi out on device 2 to midi in 2 of the adapter, and
connect
Midi in of device 2 to midi out 2 of the adapter.

In sonar, press alt o and enter on midi devices which will let you
choose midi in and out devices, provided that the hardware is properly
installed.

Start with that and see if that helps.

Subject: [ddots-l] MIDI Setup Question

Hello All:

I'm preparing to use both a Fantom X and an r8 drum
machine to record midi within Sonar. I've never used
two separate instruments before, so I'm asking for
some tips here. I'm going to be using a midiman 2x for
this operation. So how does this work?

Do I run midi wires both in the midi in and midi out
of each instrument to the midi in and midi out of the
midiman interface, or do I only need to use the midi
through?

Also, once the wires are in, what do i assign the midi
outputs to in sonar, considering the fact that I'm now
using two external instruments?

Thanks for any and all help.
