Use a sharp pointed knife or awl (that's a w l) to make a divot in the knob.

Subject: [ddots-l] Markers on knobs

Hi some knobs on pre amps and mixers has a marker on it so that you can see
its position, e.g. Gain fully closed or at quoter past. I have a sound card
with smooth knobs and sometimes it's a mission. Any ideas how i can mark
these knobs to be able to quikly see where they are set? Maybe someone else
had this problem and found a good solution?
