I have corresponded with John Melas, developer of the Performance and Mix
Editors for the
Yamaha ES series of synths. Some of you may already be using his low-cost
utilities. Gordon Kent has told me good things about Mr. Melas' work.
Check http://www.jmelas.gr/motif/ for details. Let me stress that, at least
presently, Dancing Dots has no business relationship whatsoever with Mr.
Melas so the standard disclaimers apply, etc. If you do contact him
directly, please let him know that Dancing Dots referred you.

If anyone wants to learn more about the Yamaha Motif or is ready to order
one, please go to http://www.dancingdots.com/prodesc/MIDIEquip.htm and see
the heading that says:
Yamaha Motif ES

Regards,
Bill

Thanks for the response. I've been reading up on the Owner's Manual, and I
think the topics of interest would be
Sampling functionality for a blind user and effectively saving and loding
from the external media slots (USB).
I've been familiarizing myself with the simple recording modes in pattern
and song mode, but would be interested in utilizing all of the editing
features available on the Motif.
Thanks for any feedback.
Justin

Hello: At first, using the Motif can seem a bit confusing, however, if you'd
let us know what it is you're trying to accomplish, we'd be glad to help
you.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but I just got the Motif ES 6 and am using
it with my Sibilius and Sonar software. I just wanted to ask how other
blind musicians were coping with the Motif interface. Using it can get a
little overwhelming at times. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.
Justin
