Hello all!
I had mentioned in a previous post that I had 16 tracks on my SY77 and could
not hear all parts when playing it through Sonar with all 16 tracks using
either soft synths or my Motif XF. That is no longer a problem. However, I
thought I had figured out how to simultaneously record all 16 MIDI tracks
into sonar to be edited and saved. I have tried the following:
1. SY77 set to Internal sync and Sonar set to MIDI sync with all MIDI
tracks armed to record
2. SY77 set to MIDI sync and Sonar to SMPTE/MTC
3. SY77 set to MIDI sync and attempted to set Sonar to Internal but
it would immediately go back to Audio sync when I hit Ok and then checked
the setting again. Internal was the only clock source that would not hold.
I also checked the Global settings in Sonar and played with the two settings
regarding SMPTE and MTC.
When using configuration 1 above, I could get Sonar to record and the SY77
to begin playing but it was out of sync.
After studying sync senarios in Sonar's help system, I even tried to use the
gmsystem.syx loaded into Bank zero. While there, I successfully dumped the
sequencer setup information from the SY77 into the syx view in Sonar but
without any real result.
My plan is to salvage any projects from my SY77 which have not already been
lost because of disk problems, then use the SY77 strictly as a controller.
Can anyone throw a lifeline to the captain of this syncing ship?
