You may want to make sure that the correct toolbars are being displayed. Go to the view menu and up to toolbars. Make sure that position is checked, and make sure tha transport large is not checked.

Yes, I know that pressing a number only takes me to that many bars forward, and double the number takes me that many bars backward. It just doesn't respond.
