[ddots-l] Question for Phil and others, little Focusrite sound card

I just got a new Dell Optiplex 980 with an Intel® core™ I7 CPU 870 @ 2.93 ghz
with 8 gigs of ram, Windows 7 Professional 64 and plenty of storage space
including a portable harddrive for audio. I tried to put my M-Audio 24-96 in
upside down, the only way it seemed to fit, and it isn’t recognized. Fine!
Time to get something better that still suits my needs. Everybody here talks
about Focusrite and there are plenty of cards at different prices. I just want
a basic one with a couple of in’s for mics and lines, at least 2 RCA or TRS
outs for the stereo, midi for the keyboards and good drivers for Sonar. I
don’t really want to pay for 8 or 16 channels when I don’t need them at this
time. I just want Sonar up and running again and my lossless music collection
sounds bad on the little computer speakers. Any suggestions?
