Hello Lex:

CakeWalk Sonar and the Cake Talking scripts from Dancing Dots are exactly
what your looking for. You will need both, and a pretty good sound card (All
available from Dancing Dots) to make it work.

There are a couple of demos on the Dancing Dots website
http://www.dancingdots.com where you can hear these programs in action.
This list is also an excellent resource full of blind producers ranging from
the project studio to full time audio professionals. I've gotten lots of
questions answered here and they've been very patient with me as I've been
learning.

There is a pretty steep learning curve while ramping up your studio, but
once you get everything installed and the tutorials read and then just sit
down and working with the software, you'll find that song writing with these
programs is very intuitive and a lot of fun.

Let us know if you have more questions.
