Hi Winy:
Regarding your last question, I believe CakeTalking already comes with a template for doing this. I think it's called the "voice over" template. It has a track for the background music and a track for the lead vocal. I think it uses a compressor sidechain to lower the volume of the music track when you begin to talk or sing in your vocal track.

Subject: [ddots-l] Recording Questions

Hi all,
I need your help to clear my mind by answering the following questions:
1. How to refresh Cake Talking? It recognizes all as MIDI track. I use normal templet with 2 audio and 2 midi tracks. JAWS reads all as MIDI track. Would you tell me step by step how to refresh JAWS or Cake Talking so it can recognize audio and MIDI track properly? 2. Would you give me step by step of things that I need to set in Sonar so it has optimum support and performance to work with Cake Talking? For example, what should I set in global option, audio option, etc? 3. I am recording a radio advertisement. I use my voice to read the ads and then use background music. I want when the voice is reading, the music is softer, and when it's back to normal when voice is not reading. Would you tell me what should I do to get this? I look forward to hearing from you soon. I prefer you to send the guide/answers off list. Many thanks.
Sincerely,
Winy.
