Haven't tried this but apparently you will get more volume out of an SFZ file when played in SFZ than you will out of a soundfont.

Why would you want to convert them when the SFZ player plays them just fine?

There are a number of .SFZ's on your system already.  Fore example,
SessionDrummer2, Dimension LE/Pro and RaptureLE all use this format. Also, you can load up Sound Fots into SFZ and convert them using free SoundFont to 

SFZ converter.  You will find the converter here:
