Hi Chris and others!

Fore a couple of month ago we had a renovation of the inner doors in my
house. I have taken to of the doors and and covered their surfaces with
elastic sheets and had put a 2,5 cm foam underneed the sheet fixt to the
door with carpet tape. dobbelt adensive.

Now comes the difficult one fore me to explaine. I dont know the word for an
hengsel. But what i have done is to raise the dorrs and stik them together
like a book that can be opened and closed. Underneed the doors i have placed
4 flat metal stiks and mounted one rubber wheel like on an office chair,
onderneed those sticks with a wheel in both ends. Placed 2 of the sticks on
each door and made shure that they was not placed just in front of each
other. that make it possible to nearly close the doors together when not in
use. All this has created a moveable wall that can stop reflections of
sound placed behind the singer or amp. When not in use it can be folded
together and placed up against the wall.

Inner doors in Denmark is made out of a very thin tree product and inside
there is a cell construction that makes it very light and pretty effectiv.
Somebody has even told me that they look good. I cant promise that but they
work pretty good.

Take care!

Dennis

Hi folks.

Since I'm doing the same thing, trying to control reflections and
get rid of room nodes in my mixing/mastering space, here's my question.

Have people here improvised/built their own diffusers, absorbers
and bass traps? Or did you go with some of the commercial products
like those from Auralex?

I'd love to save some money going the DIY approach, but then again,
companies like Auralex have lots of actual science behind their
products. That would save me a lot of trial and error.

One thing I'm considering is putting a large area rug on a wall to
cut down on reflections. Is that a good idea, or should I go with
the acoustic foam products and just spend the money?

Chris
