Neville,

You can definitely blow up the Jaws activation by inserting/removing
hardware, but it's normally proof against minor changes like adding or
removing a keyboard. However, a bug crept in with Jaws 10 and 11 where the
system got a lot less forgiving, hence it's a good idea to be running the
latest sub-version of either of these products.

Best wishes.

Hi,

The last build of Jaws 10 supposedly fixed the spontaneous locking code
change issue, so make sure you're running it. That's Jaws build 10.0.1178.
You can download it from:

http://www.freedomscientific.com/downloads/jaws/JAWS-previous-downloads.asp

Alternatively, if your network will allow for it, you can run the "Check For
Updates" option within the Jaws Help menu.

Best wishes.

Dennis,

I have heard something about JAWS 10 being very sensitive to any hardware
changes. You should be checking with Freedom scientific to see what they
know about this.

George's suggestion for a dongle is also a very good idea, since you don't
ever have to worry about ILM.

        Hi George!

yes it is a Vista 64. But it is running the jaws 10 64 US version,
or it orth to do. I have not installed jaws myself. It have worked perfectly
since august last year. Do to change of net connettion i installed the AVAST
anti virus last week. and the trouble started all over again. When we
installed it at first we needed to do a 3 part installation from the FS
homepage. Everytime i plug a external keyboard to it, bang it is back to
demo state. Just like a woman, very senceable! Now it does not react to
anything. Says that it has been succesfully registred but on restart it is
back again to demo.

        any suggestions?

        Hi Dennis,

Perhaps a silly question, but do you in fact have the 64 bit
version installed?

I have seen this happen with 32 bit versions on 64 bit operating
systems.

        George.

Upgrading to JAWS 10.0.1178 will not require a reinstall of
CakeTalking. Only if you go to JAWS 11, will you need to do a reinstall.
