Hey folks. Was doing some more research and am definitely interested in pulling the trigger on the Tranzport and subsequently one of the 2 control surfaces in question. In Gord's demo, I noticed that the scrubbing was very smooth with out the jerky start stop problem that I heard about a few years ago with other control surfaces. I'm curious. Does scrubbing perform differently from protocol to protocol? In other words, does the tranzport handle scrubbing differently than the Mackey Hui or Control protocol? Also, do any of you feel like scrubbing would be much different from board to board using the same protocol? Obviously some jog wheels are detented, but my question is more in the software end of things. I also read on this list about an edit in a .ini file regarding scrubbing. It had something to do with a guide posted on Phil's website. Does that only apply to the fw? Anyway, the reason for this flurry of questions is because in a nutshell, I'm really interested in the Alesis over the fw because of it's expanded monitoring and double lightpipe feature set. I feel like I'm getting a bit more for the price, although it only includes 2 xlr inputs. I never record more than 1 or 2 instruments at a time anyway, so I'm not really needing 8. With this, I get 2 xlr and 6 line level inputs. That's perfect for what I need. My main concern would be the scrubbing. I just wanted to gage whether or not you all feel that other control surfaces, even if using the same protocol would handle the scrubbing feature differently. I know it's not perfect, but what Gord was doing with the tranzport was very accurate. Will most surfaces give me that kind of accuracy? Sorry for all the questions, but even though I've been on and off these lists for the past 10 years, my journey into the PC side of things is relatively new, so I'm the new guy here. Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. Reeves
