Hi DJ,
I wish I could answer to your question as Anabelle have already answered you.
With my previous DAW by PResonus, for which I do not know the name, dropouts
sometimes happen, because the DAW's Firewire cable had become to be fragile. It
was normal that audio dropout sometimes happen. Even JAWS stopped speaking,
making the computer freeze (like the second "Somewhere" in Lennon's "Starting
Over", resulting in a flanging over a minor 4 chord in A to mean death).
The problem was that I often had to reset the audio outputs to the interface's
name and sometimes re-configure the CakeWalk's scripts.
Now that my newer DAW works with USB, I think it works better, as FireWire is
out of fashioned.
Thank you.
Adel

Have you always been able to record like this? Did this start happening
recently? Or has it been doing this for a while?

If by DAW you mean my computer, I've had it since September 2, 2011. The
graphics card I have is the AMD ATI Radeon HD5400 series, though I'm not sure
of the exact model. I also have the Intel HD Graphics 3000. One of those two is
my graphics card, and the other is my video card, which I think also has audio
features. I also have the Realtek High Definition Audio soundcard built in to
the machine.

How old is your daw? What is your video/graphics card?

Hi, it's Annabelle.
When I'm either recording or playing audio within Sonar, JAWS sometimes seems
to fall asleep. Could it be that focus is lost? Why is the Focus Loss
Announcement turned off by default? How do I prevent this from happening? Also,
what can I do to prevent dropouts and stuttering, clicks and pops when
recording from my computer's internal soundcard into the MOTU 896HD?
