Strangely enough, when I turned them on yesterday morning, it worked. I
don't know what happened a couple of nights ago. Maybe I just needed to
restart my computer.

You probably don't have two bad cables.  How about pluggin some headphones
into your MOTU and see if you hear your mics in that?
