So that new Yamaha the AG06 sound card that Bill and others were talking about
the other day might just work just as well as the Roland? It would double as a
sound card and a mixer? I hope you all don't think I am naïve, just trying to
learn and choose appropriately.

I used two Roland boards in the late 80s and early 90s. One was the D20
workstation and did pretty well if you have a great memory for menus. I was
also using a W30 sampling workstation that relied heavily on to alpha dials
that were incremented but very difficult to use. In 1990, I purchased a Yamaha
SY77 workstation. If you have a memory for page numbers and menus, this unit
was fairly easy to navigate. I purchased a Yamaha Motif XF6 through Dancing
Dots two years ago and found it to be similar to the SY77 as far as navigation.
There is a lot to it but the PDF user's guide and explanations from Dancing
Dots made it possible to do much of the navigation independently.
In this long-winded explanation, one may guess that I lean more toward Yamaha
for accessibility. I haven't touched a Roland board in many years. Hope this
helps.
