Believing that work of decent quality is the most effective means of
escaping the vicious circle of marginalization, poverty and social
exclusion
and that people with disabilities are frequently trapped in this on-going
cycle, the Accessible World Symposium on Thursday, March 30, 2006 will
focus on
creating positive attitudes that will result in the creation of employment
opportunities to enhance the capacity of the blind and visually impaired
to
generate income.

Start Time: 10:00 a.m. Pacific; 11:00 a.m. Mountain; 12:00 Noon Central;
1:00p.m. Eastern; 1800 p.m. GMT

Session 1: 10:00 A.M. Pacific
Karen Wolffe, Ph.D., Director, Professional Development & CareerConnect,
American Foundation for the Blind, Austin, Texas, will keynote the event
with her presentation "Ready, Set, Go: To Work! Introduction by Franklin
Johnson, Retired Instructor, Mississippi State University.

Session 2: 11:00 A.M. Pacific
"Preparation and job search in the 21st Century" will be discussed by two
recognized leaders: Fatos Floyd, Director of the Nebraska Orientation and
Adjustment Center for the Blind, Nebraska Commission for the Blind and
Visually Impaired, Lincoln, Nebraska and Frank S. Vasquez, Executive
Director of Intercommunity Blind Center, Whittier, California. Panel
Moderator: Glenn Ervin, Orientation Counselor, Nebraska
Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Norfolk, Nebraska.

Session 3: 12:30 P.M. Pacific
Richard Nelson Bolles, author of the newly revised legendary job-hunting
book, What Color Is Your Parachute? Will provide additional insights on
"Job
Hunting for the So-called Handicapped or People Who Have Disabilities."
Introduction by Robert Acosta, President, Helping Hands for the Blind.

Session 4: 1:15 P.M. Pacific
Kristin Sangalli, Field Representative with Lions World Services for the
Blind, Little Rock, Arkansas, will conclude the day's event discussing
"Training and Employment Opportunities for the Blind." Introduction by Pat
Price, Accessible World Events Coordinator.

Session 5:  2:15 P.M. Pacific
Attendees will have an opportunity during this session to discuss
employment issues of personal concern. Moderator:  Donald Queen, Senior
Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

To participate in this free online interactive event from anywhere in the
world, all you need is a PC, an Internet connection, sound cards, and a
microphone if you wish to interact verbally with the speakers. Those
without
a microphone may ask questions and/or make comments by typing into the
