I'm selling my Yamaha MOXF8 88 key workstation. The unit is in like new
condition, has been kept in a smoke free studio and covered when not in use.
The unit comes in original box with all original packing and accessories,
along with some added accessories that I'm including: a training video from
keyfax, a few voice libraries on a flash drive (not the Yamaha promo ones,
these are some I've obtained myself), and a pair of studio grade (double
shielded, up to 98% shield) 20 awg 10 feet instrument cable for connecting
the instrument in stereo to any supporting amp, mixer or studio console.
I'm also offering a free training session for the buyer to get started using
the unit.
The flash drive with the voices will also include the text manual and
reference, along with lists in Microsoft Excell format, as found in the
Yamaha text Library, and the latest drivers for both MIDI and audio USB
connectivity.
I'm asking $1400 plus shipping for the entire package. If you would like to
purchase or have questions, or would even like a demo/tour of the unit via
Facetime or skype, please feel free to contact me at djx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx. If
you'd rather talk over the phone, please Email me and we can exchange info.
Below is some info I've written along with the official Yamaha specs.
The MOXF8 is the same as the Motif XF8, has all the same sounds and
functions, with a few differences:
No sampling, though you do have the 2 inputs and can use a microphone or
other audio source, and you still get the vocoder. You can also load data on
the unit with samples if you have a flash board installed.
The MOXF8 can use up to 1GB of memory on its single slot.
They excluded the 8 sliders to save space, though the 8 knobs are still
included and can be used as the 8 volume sliders by pressing the 2 assign
buttons simultaneously.
No ethernet and firewire.
No ribbon control.
Smaller screen without fancy graphics, but this means if you are visually
impaired, the unit is much much easier to navigate and use!
Here are some things that the MOXF8 improves:
It has a step sequencer,
Also has a larger note capacity for sequencing,
It has an easy performance creator; create your own performance by pressing
any of the 4 buttons and selecting voices or drum parts.
Includes a shift key for quick access to certain functions.
A quick setup feature for instant recall of settings, up to 6 snapshots can
be stored. This means for example, you can load snapshot number 2 when using
the keyboard with a DAW, and it will automatically turn off local control
and can set up to external sync etc. You can set settings for each snapshot
and quickly recall them with the press of a button; no having to mess with
the utility menu each time!
* I'm not sure if the Motif XF has this feature or not.
* This list might not be accurate or complete, it's based on my own personal
observations and material I've read.
The MOXF is also a 4 channel USB audio interface, with ASIO drivers for
Windows and OS X included! This means you can use the keyboard with a
computer and your DAW of choice to record. You can send the keyboard sounds
directly into the computer on any of the 4 channels, and even use the
external inputs to feed data to the computer. You can also playback data
through the keyboard from your computer. You could use this keyboard with a
laptop for the ultimate mobile rig; no need to carry a separate interface,
the keyboard has it built-in, with a dedicated volume control slider for
your DAW. It also has a remote mode to control various VST plug-ins, and you
can add your own setups, up to 50 of them.
The MOXF also includes transpose buttons, keyboard shift buttons, and the
expanded articulation buttons conveniently close to the keyboard for live
performances. You also have an sf6 button to use for an extra arp slot, or
sceen memory!
The keyboard itself is a full size 88 key keyboard, with the graded hammer
system; this means the lower keys feel heavier and get lighter as you go up
the keyboard, like on a real piano. The velocity response is great, as is
with all Yamaha keyboards; as a MIDI controller alone this keyboard is worth
it. You also have various velocity curves to adjust the keyboard to your
playing style and needs.
It is also much smaller annd lighter than the Motif XF, and thus a great
gigging option since all the sounds are the same. The MOXF also has some
updated and new performances.
The MOXF can also load certain data from the Motif XF and even the Motif XS
and the MoX.
