Well, if it's a bounce to track, within the project: Let's say that you have a all drum set, with each piece in each midi track, directed out to any drum soft synth. Below, 2 different objective examples; to convert to audio tracks: You probably could want to convert all instruments to audio tracks. Let's say, to equalize, compresses, etc, them independently, Or, you could just want to convert all to just one stereo audio track. One other reason?! After conversion to mono or stereo audio tracks, well, you can than liberate the unnecessary RAM process. It's true that you can freeze the soft synth, this is also a bounce to track though. And, when you export all audio project, you are bouncing to track also. And so on.
