Hi Brian, I have done a pretty good amount of experimenting with different microphones on an acoustic guitar and all mics are a little different. Depending on type of acoustic, I've found you may need to roll off the bass a tiny bit as they can come off boomy when pointed too close to the sound hole. It also depends a lot on sound you really want, but I've found having mic about six to eight inches away and pointed a little off the sound hole toward the bottom part of the neck works nicely. This way you avoid the boominess and will still capture a tiny bit of the string noise that adds the human element. Been recording classical guitar over last few weeks and didn't have to roll off bass as much with this particular guitar. If you like the sound of that mic, you may find yourself not using the pickup sound as much as the microphone, at least from what I've found. Pickup is good to fill it out but may end up using it lower in the mix. Some of those A.T. mics sound surprisingly good on acoustics. Do you really want to get the attack of the pick hitting the string or not. If so, you may angle mic past the sound hole and more toward the bridge, but have found more toward bottom of neck is often most full without getting the sound hole. Darn sound hole is great for projecting the sound but can cause problems when using mic. Best of luck and will be interested to hear how it goes. I have an audio technica condenser mic and I am just getting started with a studio setup. I have a sound card that has a left input and a right input. She has a pickup on her guitar and I was going to plug her pickup in to the left input and I want to mic the guitar and plug that in to the right input. My question is since it's a condenser mic, what's the best way to mic the guitar? Thanks for any help, Brian
