Hi Chelsea,

When I first purchased Sonar, Cake Talking, some extra software and the
dedicated lap top.
I was so engulfed with how much info there was to understand that I put the lot in a cupboard and didn't even attempt to look at it for over 18 Months.

It was Darren from this list that eventually encouraged me to open the
cupboard door.

I'd been using hardware systems for many years but the vast amount of new
technology info to learn was scaring me.

What I'm trying to say is HSC and the likes is not important right now. If
you are interested in recording, you just need Sonar and Caketalking as that
alone will give you amazing results.
The tutorial that comes with Caketalking scrips is brilliant, worth the
Money just for the info on how Sonar works alone.
I had hardly any understanding of computers yet could read these scrips and
make sense of them.

Once you understand how they work then think about adding HSC scrip's and
other plugins to your system.

Don't start off looking at the deep end or else you may never jump in. go to
the shallow end and you'll be fine.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your advice! Unfortunately, I have a habbit of going for broke when I get into something I'm interested in.

I've discovered that the job title for what I want to do is mix engineer. But I wouldn't say no to doing some recording/djing on the side in the realms of trance/Christian/80s music.

I don't have any equipment yet, just my Pac Mate. I don't even know when I'll get it, if at all. I need to buiild up a case for BVR first to justify why they should buy me the equipment in the first place, hence my joining of this list to learn as much as I can before I take any plans/ideas to my counselor.

All the best,
Chelsea

Do you have OCR software you can run it through, K1000, Openbook,
Omnipage, Textbridge, Finereader etc.?

If not, send me the pdf and I'll send you back a converted copy.

I don't have the absolute latest version of Kurzweil though, I'm at
version 11 still.

Hello,
I'm using sonar 8.5. I'm getting latency with all my softsynths for some reason. I have all the settings, (buffer sizes,) both in the acio pannel and in the sonar advanced audio menu set low. In the acio pannel i ahve the sample buffer size set to 64, and in sonar audio advanced menu i have the buffer play and record set at 128. Can anyone think of anything else that might be causing latency?

Thank you.

 Thank you.

An important note about the Bob Katz mastering book: The version on
Bookshare is an older edition. The newer edition has about 50% new
content, plus it is better organized. I heard that from katz
himself when I asked if I would be OK with the older edition.

Anyway, it's available in print from his site or Amazon.com etc.

I scanned my copy and when I get Kurzweil version 12 I'll
re-recognize the images and see if it improves the accuracy.

Are you running very many synths, & are they all in stereo?
I know from what you've recently said about your nu system, that it shouldn't really be an issue, but I just wondered?

I've also found what appears to be an audio mixing course online from
www.audiosonica.com
It was originally in Italian and has been translated in to English and French. It appears to be very thorough. They also have a cD version for 27 euros, which contains the lessons in PDF format as well as sounds.

This one is more simple, 22 tracks in all
The part that took me some time was blending the instruments that
happen on the chorus: organ, electric piano, and electric
guitar. Hopefully you can pick out elements of all three, even
though they're playing the same chords at pretty much the same time.

Do you have OCR software you can run it through, K1000, Openbook,
Omnipage, Textbridge, Finereader etc.?

If not, send me the pdf and I'll send you back a converted copy.

I don't have the absolute latest version of Kurzweil though, I'm at
version 11 still.

Do you have OCR software you can run it through, K1000, Openbook,
Omnipage, Textbridge, Finereader etc.?

If not, send me the pdf and I'll send you back a converted copy.

I don't have the absolute latest version of Kurzweil though, I'm at
version 11 still.
