Gord: are you talking about the yamaha pedal that plugs into the assigned 
output on the motif or are you referencing a volume pedal where you run the 
line from the keyboard into the pedal and out to the PA or amp? I have an old 
morely electric and it seems to cut the volume of the instrument when I use it.

  I have the yamaha pedals and they are great.  They really have a long trhow 
like the expression pedals on an organ would, and they are very sturdy.  They 
are a bit large though, if you need something to carry in a gig bag or whatever 
you might be better with Roland pedals because they are more compact.
