Heck, I had a cheap Casio with undersized keys when I was about 9 year's old. It kept me entertained on long car trips, especially the cheap sampler that would take about one second of bad-sounding audio, which you could then play all over the keyboard. It's one redeeming feature though was a setting that let you build an organ sound from the fundamental on up, through the overtone series. This was analogous to the drawbars on a Hammond organ, and helped ingrain the idea of the harmonic overtone series into me early on.
