Failing that, see if you can arrange to hear the BBC Classic Album episode
on the making of Queen's Night At The Opera.  They describe how they got the
megaphone sound used on Brighton Rock - think it was an empty bean can and a
microphone.  Fun to do, if you've a little time on your hands and it's
sometimes nice not to use software.

Check out the Sonitus E Q, I think there might be a quote telephone unquote
type effect?  

At least its a decent starting point, 'coz most of the cutting has already
