Thanks, everybody.  I settled on the dm-620, for now.  It was in stock, it 
didn't boast those smartphone/bluetooth features, which I don't need.  I did 
check out the specs on all of the models that everyone suggested as well as 
consult with the tech reps (who in turn, just read the specs anyway).

Obviously, one way to improve one's self is to listen objectively to the 
performance; hence, the digital voice recorder.  I am bracing myself for 
pleasant and unpleasant revelations.  Thanks everyone.
