Hi Phil,

I just wanted to update you and everyone else on here regarding this issue.
Your suggestion of disabling the 1394 connection worked. That seems to be the
problem. I used it for a couple hours today and no problems. This also resolved
the problem I was having with intermittently losing sound from my softsynths.

Very many thanks, again.

Possibly however, I would first make sure that the 1394 network connection is
disabled. Leaving that enabled is known to cause lots of pops and clicks.

    Hi Phil,

I'm using a firewire card. I'd have to see if I disabled the 1394
connection or not. Does any of this sound like it could be a power management
issue?

    Thanks.

What sound card are you using. Is it USB 2 or, firewire? Also, if you
have a firewire card installed, have you disabled the 1394 network connection?
not doing that will cause crackling.

        Hello,

I've been getting some crackling and intermittent dropouts in Sonar on
my quad-core system. I recently loaded some large vsts, (some that take up 40
gigs or more,) onto my machine and am using them within sonar. I know these
synths use the ram of the computer heavily. Recently, I posted an inquiry on
here regarding another issue I was having with losing sounds for my vsts during
a project while trying to play them from my midi controler. I'm also hearing
that USB/firewire ringer go off randomly. I'm becoming fairly certain that
these issues are all somehow related, and am wondering if power management is
an issue. Side note: the fans in my pc are constantly running, even when I
havent been using it for several hours, and they weren't doing that before.

        Any thoughts?

        Thanks in advance.
