Charles, I'd suggest that you first go back to another project where V-Vocal
has worked in the past, and see if it still works. If it still works in older
projects, then your problem is caused by a characteristic of your current
project.

If V-Vocal no longer works in any project, then your display settings have
probably been changed in some way. Though all of CakeTalking depends in some
part on the exact color and positioning of items on the screen, V-Vocal is
extremely sensitive to those things. V-Vocal's interface contains very little
of anything that Jaws can see through traditional means. It is the largest
custom access job that has ever been produced for CakeTalking. Correct color
and position are essential.

Be absolutely certain that, in the display control panel, you're still using
the Windows classic theme, that window colors and appearance are still using
windows classic style, and that the screen resolution is still 1024X768 and
32-bit color. In the system control panel, on the advanced tab, under the
performance settings button, be certain that the radio button to adjust for
best performance is selected.

If V-Vocal still works in old projects, then I'm not sure what could be
different about your current project. Perhaps other windows are open that are
partially obscuring the V-Vocal window. Try pressing control+tab from the track
view to see if any other windows gain focus. If they do, close them. Make sure
that the inspector is closed.

Also, does this happen when you re-open existing V-Vocal clips, or when you
start a new clip? If you accidentally try to open the V-Vocal editor when
multiple clips are selected, that can cause strange behavior.

If none of this helps, then call me at DD, and I'll tandem in to fix it for you.

Bryan

Subject: [ddots-l] problems with v-vocal

Hi:
I am trying to edit an audio track using v-vocal. First, when I tried to move
around the pitch plot, I got a message that said: "Sorry, this function has
failed." I have used v-vocal before in other projects without any problems.
Do you have any idea of what may be the problem, or how I can fix it?

I also noticed something is wrong with the scale selection button. I wanted to
correct an entire clip using the G. minor scale. However, after I selected G.
Minor, CakeTalking reports that G. major had been selected. This problem only
happens with the G. minor scale. Any ideas?
