They sound great! Note to customers in U.S. and Canada: Dancing Dots is matching Cakewalk's current offer to discount upgrades to current versions of SONAR by $50. So if you've been thinking of upgrading to SONAR 6 Producer in order to get the Session Drummer feature, now is an excellent time to do so. Customers from other countries should check with their national Cakewalk distributors to see if they are having a similar promotion. Hello: Well, the truth is that when you come right down to it, if you want a really natural sounding feel, you shouldn't quantize it at all. Unfortunately, none of us (or I should say most of us), are not going to play a drum part tight enough especially when using a midi keyboard. If you have your drum parts separated, e.g. the kick on a track by itself, you might want to try just quantizing the kick, and maybe the hi hat, then
leave the snare and toms unquantized so that you can have flams and drags if you want. Now, all this being said, this is where session drummer comes in. Many of the included patterns are recorded purposely with a loose unquantized feel to make them sound like a real drummer. I've red over the tutorial stuff on it but still can't quite get the patterns to line up and swing quite right. Somehow even after tweaking the quantize peramiters, even simple little kick, snare ride combos have
been coming out robotic. I mean I've got nothing against the robots but
when they start to take over I need to turn to someone for help. (smile) Also, if anyone has been using the "groove quantize " feature, I'd be curious to know how it works. Thanks a million!
