Insert the delay on a bus then, insert a send on a track and control it from
there.

Subject: [ddots-l] using delay on a vocal track

Hi: I would like some feedback in using delay on a vocal track for the final
mix. I'd like to use it sparingly but with taste. (1) are there any articles
available for ideas on this? (2) How do you use delay on a vocal track and
where do you insert it to get the ultimate use from it, in automation
recording? It's difficult to move the controlls quickly enough. (3) when I try
to use an effect in the process menu by selecting a portion of the track, the
delay seems to almost cut off a portion of the vocal, it's not smooth sounding.
  Any thoughts? John Fioravanti
