Ann,

10.6 reads files from earlier versions without any problem.  When you
open the file, you get a message advising you that it was created in an
earlier version, and that if you save it normally earlier versions will
not be able to read it.  This shouldn't be a problem unless you change
the file and want to read it with an earlier version.
