First thing I myself would do is determine how much wiggle room you have with
alterations of the text. Some publishers/agencies give the transcribers, or the
ones producing the braille material, free reign for such things; while others
are sticklers for no alterations at all. So, that would be my first steps. No
help on the rest of your inquiry.
