HI - I am soooo excited to get a reply - thank you so much for your time!!! I will check into the certification of the course by the Library of Congress. Thank you very much for that advice. And yes, it does seem to be just literary Braille (alphabet, numbers, punctuation, etc.). I will have to look into where I can learn more about the math, science and music codes you were mentioning. As for job opportunities, I searched and searched the internet today and could not find one single employment posting for a Braille transcriber - I obviously am not looking in the right places. Could you point me in the right direction?? As for some personal info - my name is Tina Chesterman, my husband and I ranch outside of Wainwright, Alberta, Canada. Before I met and married my husband, I worked in Edmonton, Alberta, for an international software development firm as a technical writer and systems trainer. I am very excited about the prospect of working as a Braille transcriber and especially if it allows me to work from home. Any advice and/or insight you could offer is sincerely appreciated. Thank you for your time.
